Pawns
(PAWNS) - Pawns card game
Pawns is a card game that is played with up to 4 players. The objective of the game is to be the first to play all your cards. Having the power is necessary to host or start a game, but it's not required to play.
Starting the game
To start a game of Pawns, you must first bring the game bot to your chat by opening from the left side applications menu, and typing "!bot" in main chat. After bringing the game bot, start a game by selecting
from the main menu, choosing a game mode, setting a goal and an optional prize. Then, proceed to the lobby and add players to the game. You can edit the match details without having to leave the lobby by clicking the white pencil icon at the top right corner.
To add a player, open a private chat with them and click on any of the empty player slots. Make sure they have the application open or you will not be able to add them. Each player will receive a request to join the game. You can switch or remove a player by clicking on their xavi. Players can also request to swap positions with another player while the host can swap positions of players without asking for permission.
If you want to set a prize, you must first transfer xats and/or days to the game bot. You can set the amount of xats and days the winner will receive at the beginning of the game.
Note: The GameBot stores transferred xats/days for only 48 hours, so refrain from transferring large amounts to avoid potential loss.
Once you've added players, you can start the game by clicking "Start Match".
Gameplay
To access tutorials covering gameplay and card mechanics in Pawns, simply select from the main menu within the application.
You take turns to play cards from your hand onto the discard pile, aiming to match the top card either by number, color or type. If you are unable to play, you must draw a card from the middle.
You have a limited time of 15 seconds to make your move and a failure to do so incurs a penalty of drawing two additional cards. If you miss your turn twice consecutively, you'll enter AFK Mode, and if you miss another turn, you'll be disqualified. In AFK Mode, you'll only have 9 seconds to make your next move.
An important moment in gameplay occurs when you have only two cards left in your hand. Following the play of your second last card, you must click within 3 seconds. If you fail to do so and another player clicks this button before the next player starts their turn, you'll receive a penalty of being dealt two cards.
Game modes
There are 3 available game modes: Classic, Duo and Special.
Classic
In Classic mode, all standard color/number cards, along with the reverse, skip, draw two, draw four and wild cards are active. The draw two and four cards cannot be stacked, requiring the next player to always draw cards. You can only play a draw four card or draw from the pile if you have no other playable options.
Duo
Duo mode maintains all the rules of the classic mode but you have the option to team up with another player, competing against another team. You are also able to view your team member's cards. Victory for one team member constitutes victory for both. Upon adding a prize, the amount gets divided among the winners when added to the pool. Both winners of the match receive a prize.
Special
Special mode features new cards and rules to diversify gameplay. Draw four cards can be deployed at any time and you can draw from the draw pile even if you possess a playable card. You can also stack draw two/draw four cards on top of opponents' cards, compelling the next player to draw the combined sum of the numbers. Additionally, this mode adds two unique cards in play: the discard card and the swap card.
Cards, points and winning
The winner in Pawns is determined by the chosen goal set at the beginning of the match. The possible goals include winning one round or accumulating points up to 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500. The player who achieves the goal first wins the game.
Each round concludes when a player successfully plays all of their cards. Points are rewarded and tallied based on the cards left in the hands of other players. The following table showcases the various cards and their specific point values:
